Perhaps read the first book and see what you think. If they are old copies in good condition, the reasale opportunity would be excellent, even if you decide you don't want to keep them.

Hope this helps!Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09573473465011631325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143485269626703118.post-31848159527469791812011-02-03T18:47:39.370+11:002011-02-03T18:47:39.370+11:00Hello Jeanne,

As parent of one child hopelessly ill-suited to "sit down, shut up and do as you're told" [i.e. school]for whom following a book is about as pleasant as root canal, I'm all for "life learning"--I really doubt my son would be any more/less successful without what he is getting from "school"....I so wish I could see, hold and enjoy some of the marvelous books you showcase here!Hopewellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02510172065585770709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143485269626703118.post-74566518187680233792010-01-19T11:04:04.148+11:002010-01-19T11:04:04.148+11:00Oh joy, oh joy! (In later years my girls did this with the Saddle Club stories but I say no compaison!)they liked the Billabong books, but thought them a bit corny. What?
What a delight to hear someone called a duffer! If only that were the types of name calling these days, eh.
Wonderful memories. I'm sure Jemimah will have them knocked over in short order.Rubyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09705309602853231946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143485269626703118.post-9594439652224342682010-01-19T07:32:42.167+11:002010-01-19T07:32:42.167+11:00No relation, Richele. I am reading a book by Elizabeth Goudge and sense some CM ideas in it. I would love to know how much she reflected trends in education or pioneered them. Probably pioneered I suspect. I would like to know more about the history of education at her time.Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09343902100920059797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143485269626703118.post-52293470368852829742010-01-18T23:01:02.398+11:002010-01-18T23:01:02.398+11:00I adore the Billabong books & have read them a...I adore the Billabong books & have read them all. Some of my copies were given to my mother as Sunday school & school prizes. You know everyone says the books are racist & classist but I just see well off people treating everyone decently ~ & they do. Peculiar for a time in Oz history when the Chinese in particular were vilified. Return To Billabong is one of the most hilarious books. Do you remember *Tommy's* stepmother sailing down the street like an over ornamented pie?! The image gives me such joy. ☺ And of course who coule ever forget Norah's wedding day? Priceless.Ganeidahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17176246964466185315noreply@blogger.com
