The hair salon
Don't let it ever be said that I am not a tolerant mummy. Do any of the rest of you have to put up with this sort of things when you're trying (being the operative word here) to do school? This is what we we did this morning. I read The Hobbit (Smaug, that most specially greedy, strong and wicked worm is dead), and the girl plaited...
...and plaited...
...and plaited.
Am I not the most tolerant, patient, and kindest of mothers? To be honest, I adore having my hair done. Do you? I figured that since I wasn't going anywhere it didn't much matter how I looked, and it made a small person so happy. Besides, I had my coffee, and a bikkie and a book. All of life's necessities. I was set.
Then I got a phone call asking me to go into work to fill in some dreaded forms and other stuff that just couldn't wait. Ugh. That is so cruel.
I couldn't really go looking like this - it was more frizzy in reality - so I had to go and wash it and dry it before I could leave. So cruel.
We spent some time tidying the games cupboard as well today - a much more satisfying task, but I didn't finish that until this evening, so you'll need to wait for tomorrow if you want to see pictures of the finished job. Do you?
What did you get up to today?
I have some "amazing" photos from my first full day as a Mom (still in Ukraine) with B doing my hair!
ReplyDeleteFun times!
"What did you get up to today?" Sewing a whole batch of doll clothes! Photos yet to come.
ReplyDeleteAs for the hair...I had to let my oldest do a finger wave on me, at the salon where she was working. It was a requirement for her apprenticeship (they haven't changed the requirements in a long time). Think bad 1920's hair. This is seriously about what I looked like: http://www.shorpy.com/node/8462 . Even the salon owner told her to take it out before she let me leave the shop!
What a great mom you are! When I grow up, I want to be a rock star mom like you!
ReplyDeleteI let my girls play with my hair. When I was younger, I loved for someone to brush my hair. Miss Priss likes to braid it -- just like Jemimah does. But my hair doesn't admit it like yours does...
ReplyDeleteyou are all very patient. i have long hair and a sensitive scalp, so no hair do's for me, even though my girls would probably be in heaven...
ReplyDeletemama s, i kinda like shorpy's hair... ;)
ReplyDeleteI do too, Amy.
ReplyDeleteVery hip Mummy!
ReplyDeleteMy girl doesn't do her - mine or hers for that matter. I'm dreading dreadlocks, because hers verges on that sometimes! You deserve Mum of the Year medal for that! And having to go into work - nooooo!
ReplyDeleteWe did hot chocolate, some lovely discussions on plant taxonomy and photosynthesis vs. respiration. All with no plaits :-)
I think you look adorable in the photos and should have gone in without the wash.
ReplyDeleteI bet you were thinking, "Peaceful day, indeed!" :D
