Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

Morning peeps!

My mum used to sing this to my brother and sister and me many moons ago. Now I sing it to Jemimah.

We have lots of traditional songs like this in our family - do you?

This one has the perfect lyrics for this perfect spring morning - which is why I went a searching for it and why I'm putting it here now.

Have a beautiful morning everyone.
Oh, What A Beautiful Morning

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright golden haze on the meadow
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye
And it looks like it's climbing right up to the sky

Oh what a beautiful morning
Oh what a beautiful day
I've got a beautiful feeling
Everything's going my way

All the cattle are standing like statues
All the cattle are standing like statues
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by
But a little brown mav'rick is winking her eye

Oh what a beautiful morning
Oh what a beautiful day
I've got a beautiful feeling
Everything's going my way

All the sounds of the earth are like music
All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree
And an ol' weeping willow is laughing at me

Oh what a beautiful morning
Oh what a beautiful day
I've got a beautiful feeling
Everything's going my way

  2. A great classic with great lyrics. Yes,I find myself singing songs to my children that my Mother sang to me! How blessed we are that we had Mothers who sang to us.

    Cheers,

  3. OOOOOklahoma! I sang in the chorus for this musical in high school. Great memories, great music!

We have "family" songs too. And, I think we might be a little strange, but we also love to talk to each other in song. Just pick a catchy tune of your liking, and change the words to suit your needs. I think it was my husband that started that, but it always gets us laughing together.

Yes, maybe you're a little strange - aren't we all?

  5. Well, my mum never sang to me but I'm always making up songs to sing to my dd (change the words to a song we know). Just like Sue I guess. My dd always laughs except when I sound REALLY bad and she tells me so too!

  6. And one day Jemimah will sing it to her children :)

My father also sang the chorus to "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" growing up, as well as another in the morning (which he accompanied with his guitar):

    Good morning to you,
    Good morning to you,
    We're all in our places
    With bright shining faces.
    Good morning to you!

We sing a lot of silly things here and often. I think the silliest at the moment is an operatic "Do you want chevre?"

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
