Happy Saturday everyone

Hurrah! It's the weekend! I'm kinda happy about that. Are you?

Are you doing anything today? Something that we'd like to hear about?

Today is going to be a lazy day for us. Just the sort I like the best.

The sun is shining, so we'll probably swim. Okay, I know we'll swim. I'm going to sit out on a recliner under an umbrella and read some of my book too. And eat. I love to eat Christmas baking. Mince pies are my favourite. In my Beloved's home mince pies were eaten during the 12 Days of Christmas and not before. That was a tradition that I certainly have not incorporated into our family Christmas. Imagine only 12 days of mince pies! Personally, I start as soon as they come out of the oven all oozy and warm in early December. Yum. I do put away a few for the 12 Days though. At least one a day. Just for the one with whom I am in love.

I've been catching up on some of my blog reading this morning too. Look what I found on Pip's blog, Meet me at Mikes:

Jemimah and I thought this was ridiculously funny. Do you?

Ernie and Bert remind me that Mao's Last Dancer is on at our local movie theatre tonight. I'd love to see this film, but it's PG, and I'm not sure how appropriate it would be for a seven year old. Anybody care to babysit her while I go on a Date with her daddy instead? No, I thought not. Perhaps you might like to come with me, and I'll leave her father home with sole parental authority. Pizza sounds good for dinner. We can eat it off our knees while we watch a DVD at home if worst comes to worst. Jemimah would like this alternative best, I'm sure of it. Mao will come to DVD pretty soon anyhow.

Now I'm going to love you and leave you. Do let me know what you're up to. I've plenty of time to read your replies today.

A recliner is calling. So is my husband, for that matter. Now which do you think I should answer first?

Ah yes. The coffee machine. Then the husband. I promise.

  2. Do you have a big screen TV. I think Mao would loose a little on our little set.
I had a huge sleep in! Getting straightened up. visist my parents, then in the cooler part of the day, work on our garden. Well, our backyard at least. Dad is taking the boys to Fir in the Sky tonight and I am baby sitting my number 2 grandson. sounds like a good day to me.

  5. In case you were wondering about the flying koalas participating in Fir in the Sky (?!) it should have read Fire in the Sky!
Apart from costumes whcih leave little to the imagination, I can actually only recall one scene where Li is with his first wife that could be iffy. Nothing actually happens but you feel as though it is going to. Depends on how astute she is with that sort of inuendo.
Could have been other spots but not that I recall.

On the agenda for tonight - drinks with hubby; pizza and garlic bread at the local Italian joint followed by Mao at the theatre.

  8. Hi Jeanne,
I am enjoying having a baby in the house again! My neice and her hubby and 6 month old Hamish are visiting from Melbourne. I am gooing and gaahing ridiculously, and loving it. We have been out and about showing them all the sights today.Right now my hubby is cooking thai fish curry, my kids are in various stages of bathing and getting into pjs, and I am grabbing 5 mins here before I let my boys play Lego Racers on the computer.
Let me know if you get to the moive, I read the book last year and loved it.

  9. Hi Jeanne,
My daughter and I have been out in the garden all day.

I'm really looking forward to a day of rest tomorrow.

    Have a great weekend,
    Blessings,
    Jillian

  10. Did you enjoy Mao? Ditz & I did. I do think the dancing needs to be seen on the big screen. It is a visually beautiful movie. I should probably read the book. I was intrigued with a reviewer's comments on the Chinese idea of famial & country duty which should have overridden the creative urge ~ & so different to western thinking.

  11. Spent the day with two very sick little boys and then the night with FIL in the ER. All are on the mend.

I just made myself a cup of Guatemalan Antigua coffee and will unpack an obscene amount of books to open shop in my home this week.

Would have preferred to go to the movies :) and I never thought you would send Jemimah here without packing yourselves up as well.

  12. Trying to imagine laying out in the sun at Christmas! It snowed here yesterday!! Never did like mince pie--I guess I'm too American! My Dad loved it--his grandma's grandma brought the recipe with her "on the boat"....

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
