Which are you?

Humanity can be roughly divided into three sorts of people - those who find comfort in literature, those who find comfort in personal adornment, and those who find comfort in food...

Which group do you fit into?

  1. Sorry, but it's the food for me. :) Although books come a close second. LOL

  3. Oh Jeanne , what a great question! I'm excited just thinking about it.
It's literature for me as you probably already know.
I have books everywhere and I read them too. I try to read them ala CM - a chapter a week of about 5 different books till I finish them. I also like to have an easy read on the go too for when I am tired or just need to relax. That's why books are so good there is a book for every moment. I really don't know what I would do without reading and books. Throughout my life they have been my companion , comfort and stimulant.

So glad you've discovered Elizabeth Goudge. I really enjoy her adult books too. Have you read any of those?

  4. Oh how I wish I could answer that literature is number one! Unfortunately, it is a close second to food. I really think very little of adornment.

Food and literature at the same time is about as comforting as it gets! :o)

  5. My first thought was I find comfort in bed :) Warm soft bed, so comfy. But if I have to choose between those three then sadly, its food...which later makes me uncomfortable!

  7. I'm afraid I'm with Sue -I'd love to be able to say literature, but for me it is food first. Now most of you know what I think about books, so that will give you a bit of an idea how much I love fine food.

Cookery books. Maybe I should post on cookery books!!

Like Sue says, I'm for combining food and books. Works for me!!

  8. Hey Louise,
Are you finding your retention of the material in the books you read one chapter at a time greater? I would really like to know how that style of reading is going for you...
Which one am I? Well, I like to get dressed and adorn myself, grab some delicious food, and sit down in a quiet comfortable corner all by myself and read a book! That's heaven on earth!
    Thanks,

  9. "Food and literature at the same time is about as comforting as it gets!"

I'll second this one. Although adornment is used on occasion as well. When you're feeling low, all three work very nicely together!

Jeanne, I'd love to see some posts on cookery books. I do love good food, but not so much the cookery part - I am certain you would be inspiring, maybe even entice me to put down a book once in awhile and into the kitchen!

  11. Ha! Can you go past chocolate, in bed, with a great book, after buying new boots?

Sweeties, why choose just one? ;)

  12. Jeanne, literature comes first, but chocolate would have to come a very close second. ;)

    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Love and blessings, Jillian ♥

  13. BOOKS - couldn't live without them. But it is nice to have food whilst surrounded by literature.

  14. Hmm, I've taken 24 hours to think about this one and don't think I find my comfort in any of the three. I'm so trying not to be too serious.

Literature- I find encouragement, inspiration, ideas.
Personal adornment- My husband and boys love this much more than I do so I gussy myself up for them.
Food- I do love food but not for comfort.

They all three kind of excite or awaken the senses. Hope I still fit into humanity : )

"paternon" is the word verification. I like that.

  15. Definately books! I eat because I HAVE to, I adorn because I NEED to, but I read because I WANT to. I have always loved books and found them a source of escape, encouragement, adventure, hope, love and challenge. My favorite book is the Bible.

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
