  2. Ahhh... I kind of miss classical Latin. That is what I learned in high school, but I also got the Ecclesiastical Latin from singing in Chorus all through high school and college. I opted for Christina Latina with my kids, because I like the program, and I wanted to memorize various prayers in Latin with them. I still can't get used to certain things, like "veni, vidi, vici" with a "v" sound, though! I think my dear Latin teacher, Mrs. Ingram, must be rolling over in her grave every time I say it. ;o)

I love this video, because his pronunciation sounds so nice. I admit to being a bit of a snob about that due to four years under a strict Latin teacher, plus more years under chorus professors with strict pronunciation standards. I have never used the Latina Christiana DVDs because I can't abide the southern American accent to the teacher's Latin (maybe it's extra glaring to me being a southern raised gal myself)!

My kids lucked out, having Japanese vowel sounds to go by - they are very similar to Latin. Thanks for sharing!

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
