lovely photos jemimah - i have no idea what sort it is, but the ants sure seem to like him :)
Try Danus genutia under the Nymphomea[?]www-staff.it.uts.edu.au/~don/larvae/larvae.htmlBoth caterpillar & butterfly images.
The caterpillar of the beautiful flanny pyjama moth!Jokes aside, that is one beautiful looking creature. Great find!
Hee Hee, Ruby - you wear prettier jarmies than I do!!He is beautiful, isn't he!Not sure about Danus ganutia, Ganeida, becasue he has horns. Jemimah's did not...similar though, I'd agree.
Hmmm, I have no idea, but it indeed is lovely!!Lynn
I called the kids over to look...We have never seen one like that. It is beautiful!
Well done, Jemimah! A great addition to your Nature Journal! He's beautiful!
Max and I could not identify it. Have you tried discoverlife.org ?
lol The only caterpillars I am sure of are the big hairy itchy grubs. I guess you checked out the other grubs while you were on the site. I'll ask Dearest; he's done some insect work for horticulture. The trouble is knowing if it's a moth or a butterfly ...or something else entirely. PLease, if you do find out, let us know. ☺
One of my boys worked out of Carnarvon for awhile; home base Perth; surfed the beach end of the Margaret River. Great White country. Big surf. Cold water. Yeah, I don't know much either. My mum says Perth is very beautiful so enjoy! ☺
oops. Sorry. Meant to post above. It's been one of those weeks.
Gorgeous photos~!!Gorgeous caterpillar too - sad it's on it's way out though.
I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
