My Dad

Dad and me on Sunday.

Hello friends,

Just wanted you all to know that last night my beloved father passed away quietly at home surrounded by his family.

We're all holding up pretty well.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers over the last three weeks since he was first diagnosed. They have all meant so much to me.

That's why I want you to know. Because you are my friends. And you care.

Thank you for that too.

Psalm 142

1 I cry aloud to the LORD;
I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
2 I pour out my complaint before him;
before him I tell my trouble.

3 When my spirit grows faint within me,
it is you who know my way.
In the path where I walk
men have hidden a snare for me.

4 Look to my right and see;
no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;
no one cares for my life.

5 I cry to you, O LORD;
I say, "You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living."

6 Listen to my cry,
for I am in desperate need;
rescue me from those who pursue me,
for they are too strong for me.

7 Set me free from my prison,
that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me
because of your goodness to me.

  8. The loss is very sorrowful here I know. May there be a measure of comfort in that there will be a future reunion for you and he. Praise the Lord that he is in perfect health now. Praise the Lord that he has met our Savior face to face and what unexpressable joy he must be feeling at this moment.

    I do pray that our loving Lord would bring you peace during this time.

  15. When Josh called my yesterday with the news of your father's passing, I couldn't help but get a bit teary eyed (and again reading this).
    I didn't know your father well, but that didn't keep him from greeting me with a hug and kiss EVERY time he saw me.
    To someone new in town, who didn't grow up as part of the, "gang," that meant a lot to me.
    He was a lovely, loving, Godly man and I will miss him.

  17. Oh Jeanne,
    I am sorry for your loss and your children's loss. Loss is sad, even when there is a deep joyousness. It's because we have lost someone special to us, regardless of the fact that we will see them again. The loss is ours, today... and it can hurt.

    Prayers, hugs and thoughts for you over the coming days, weeks and months.

    I am praying that the God of all comfort would comfort you all at this time.
    How good though that you got to have some fun family times in the past few weeks and how great is this picture of you both taken only a few short days ago. God is indeed good!
    Amidst the painful situations of my life, I've learnt to lift up my voice and say "God is good" and this actually does wonders for my soul:) I pray that you would feel His goodness and love flowing over you all in the days to come...

  42. Jeanne! I'm sorry I missed this, being overly busy right now. I walked this road in 2008, except I had just a wee few more weeks to digest the burden of it all. Blessings and love and hugs and peace to you in Christ Jesus, my dear, sweet friend! May you be comforted in your knowledge of the Father's deep, rich grace poured out for your father and for YOU. xoxo

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
