Staying warm and dry

I'm excited to be seeing this exhibition today. It is the perfect thing to be doing on a cold drizzly Melbourne afternoon.

I'm particularly interested in seeing the tablet that describes King Nebuchadnezzar's capture of Jerusalem in 597 BC and the transportation of King Jehoiachin and his family into Babylon. Stuff like this really brings the Bible alive for me.

Spending time snuggling in front of the fire and drinking hot chocolate is pretty good on a day like today as well. That's what we've been up to this morning.

How do you keep warm and entertained on rainy winter days?

  1. Well, it doesn't often rain here, but a pot of chai tea, some bikkies (yoyos are the current faves) and a few board games (Ticket to Ride is a big hit here) keep us going.
    Enjoy the exhibition!

  2. Oh, I love the sound of that exhibition. I will look forward to a post after you've checked it all out for us!
We are having a snap of cold and drizzly rain here as well. This old house is not designed for the Winter, that's for sure!

  3. I am so jealous! I would love to see that exhibition! I too look forward to the follow up post. As for winter, it is non existent here in Florida so I don't have an answer. :P

  4. I think your cold drizzly weather is making its way up north today !
Love the sound of that exhibition. Will have to come back and check out the it tube clip. Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Jeanne, I found dd11's notes from our visit to the Mesopotamia Exhibit and thought I'd share them with you. This is the sum total: "One of the Assyrians kills Teuman's son with a club while a second cuts off Teuman's head. A third picks up the royal's hat. Teuman and his son are surrounded by Assyrian soldiers." Ho hum, I suppose it comes from having three older brothers....

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
