Day 1

So today I saw these beautiful paintings; works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Velázquez and Van Dyck, right here in Melbourne at the National Gallery of Victoria's Masterpieces from the Hermitage exhibition. It was quite overwhelmingly marvellous. Some of my favourites are here. Like?

Then my beautiful friend and I had a Devonshire Tea, followed by lemon tart. As you do...or should.

Then I went and bought a book, just one, Susan Wise Bauer's new title, The Story of Science. I'd never heard of it. Have you? Heard anything about it?

Then I has pizza. Capricciosa with pineapple. I wonder if I would eat this badly if I lived alone? Anyhow, it was yummy.

I am now drinking tea.

Thank you for chatting with me today. It was fun. What have you done today? What are you having for dinner? Do you like pizza? Would you cook if you were home alone?

  1. I'm trying to open my bleary eyes and make coffee. Long night with the baby! :) I absolutely love the first photo and the one with the sea battle? is stunning! The two little girls are beautiful also! I'm loving your food choices...eat another tart for me, please! :) I have never heard of the SWB title either.

  2. what restraint, just one book! And now I have to look up the exhibit you saw to find the names of those paintings which I should know but do not. . .

  3. Oooooo - my favorites are paintings #3 and #4. Same artist? That is a stunning depiction of war with fire at sea. And those girl curls are just enviable.
And I see that this was the post with the Science book in it. I commented about it on the other post:(. I was too eager to add myself to your Mother Culture Week to pay attention to details.

  4. The SWB book has been on my wishlist ever since I heard of it, let us know if it's good.
No, I would not cook...not even one meal :p

  5. Snap! My DH made pizza last night for supper, it was delicious. Lovely paintings - especially the one of the two girls.

  6. The pizza looks fabulous! Susan Wise Bauer's Story of the World--yes, I've heard of, but not this "new?" book.

I'd love you to leave me a message. Tell me what you like - and what you don't. Just remember that this is what we do in our family - it doesn't have to be what you do in yours...
